As a tribute to the extraordinary legacy of the Mangeshkar sisters—Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle—their brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar has announced plans to build what could become Asia’s largest hospital
in their memory. In a recent IANS interview, he explained that the project was first planned as a tribute to their eldest sister, Lata Mangeshkar. But with Asha Bhosle passing away ahead of the scheduled inauguration on April 16th, the decision was made to name the hospital after both of them.
Hospital Dedicated To Lata Mangeshkar-Asha Bhosle
Sharing details of the initiative, Hridaynath Mangeshkar told IANS, “We are trying that this should be the biggest hospital in Asia. We have taken quite a big land, rest it up to God.” The hospital is expected to be most likely be named either ‘Lata-Asha Institute of Medical Sciences’ or ‘Lata-Asha Mangeshkar Ayurvidhya Sansthan’.

In addition to the hospital, the family is also planning a museum dedicated to showcasing their rich musical heritage. The museum will not only celebrate their legacy but also offer visitors an opportunity to learn music through interactive experiences. Further details about the project are expected in the coming months.
Asha Bhosle’s Death
Meanwhile, Asha Bhosle passed away in Mumbai on Sunday at the age of 92. She had been hospitalized at Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday after a decline in her health due to chest infection and fatigue. She succumbed to multi-organ failure at 12 noon on Sunday (April 12).
Her last rites were held on Monday, and several celebrities including Aamir Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Tabu, Vivek Oberoi, music composer Anu Malik, singers Anup Jalota, Sudesh Bhosale, and Shaan paid their respects.
Asha Bhosle’s mortal remains were also kept for final darshan at her residence in Casa Grande, Lower Parel, allowing fans, well-wishers and members of the industry to pay their last respects. The iconic singer was bestowed with the Guard of Honour in presence of fans, family and well-wishers.
