India’s ODI vice-captain Shreyas Iyer made his much-awaited return to competitive cricket on Tuesday (January 6) in Jaipur. The 31-year-old right-handed batter batted at No. 4 for Mumbai in their sixth
Elite Group C match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 against Himachal Pradesh at Jaipuria Vidhyalaya Ground and scored 82 runs from 53 balls. In the must-win match for Mumbai, where Iyer is leading them as well, he slammed 10 fours and 3 sixes during his stay at the crease.
The ongoing match in Jaipur was a crucial one for Iyer to prove his match fitness ahead of the start of the India-New Zealand ODI series.
Iyer was included in India’s 15-member squad picked up for the home series on January 3, but his participation was subject to fitness.
