World No. 1 T20I team India will face the Netherlands in their fourth Group A match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Wednesday (February 18). Since India have already qualified for the Super 8s after
winning their first three Group A matches, the result of the match against the Dutch team won’t have any impact on India’s fate. For the match scheduled to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Indian team management could make multiple changes to their playing XI.
Ahead of the Super 8 stage, India would like to test their bench strength against the Scott Edwards-led side and also give rest to a couple of key players ahead of the tough next week.
Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, world No. 1 T20I bowler Varun Chakaravarthy and all-rounder Hardik Pandya could be rested for Wednesday’s match, and in their place Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh and Washington Sundar are expected to feature in the playing XI.
Siraj and Sundar represent Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and have played multiple T20 matches at the Narendra Modi Stadium, whereas Arshdeep is India’s highest wicket-taker in T20Is.
Arshdeep played the first two matches of the T20 World Cup 2026 for India but was dropped to the bench for the high-voltage match against Pakistan in Colombo on Sunday. On the other hand, Siraj played against the United States of America in Mumbai on February 7 and even picked up three wickets.
In the batting, the Indian team management is unlikely to make any changes despite Abhishek Sharma’s recent struggles. Sharma, who tops the ICC T20I batter’s rankings, has failed to open his account even in four out of the last six matches. In the two T20 World Cup 2026 matches against the USA and Pakistan, he registered scores of 0 from 1 ball and 0 from 4 balls, respectively.
Tilak Varma and Axar Patel have also underperformed with the bat so far, but they impressed with their bowling against Pakistan on Sunday. They would like to get some runs under their belt against the Dutch team.
India’s likely playing XI for T20 World Cup 2026 Match Against the Netherlands: Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan (WK), Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav (C), Washington Sundar, Shivam Dube, Rinku Singh, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj
