Union Health Minister JP Nadda on Thursday said the Centre was ready to hold talks with the protesters and invited them to meet him either at his residence or official office. “Yes, we are ready. Come

His remark came only an hour after Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said the government had already sent four formal proposals to CJP representatives since the previous afternoon and remained open to dialogue at any time. He said discussions could be held at JP Nadda’s office or residence, adding that the Centre was willing to address all issues raised by the students.
“We do not stand on prestige. Union Health Minister JP Nadda and I will be present for discussions. Slowly, by way of discussion, we will progress towards a solution. This is part of the continuous steps taken by the government for the welfare of the students. Humbly, I appeal to you all to come and have discussions,” Singh said.
Meanwhile, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman defended the government’s handling of the students’ concerns, saying action had already been taken against those involved in paper leak cases. She said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had assured that the accused would face fast-track trials and be punished.

“This is a matter regarding students. The government has arrested the accused involved in paper leaks. The Prime Minister has said they will be tried in fast-track courts and punished. The government is working with complete dedication on this matter,” Sitharaman said.
She also stressed the need for a discussion in Parliament and accused the Congress of politicising the issue despite the government’s willingness to hold a debate.
