Rakhi Sawant, the self-proclaimed “OG item girl” of Bollywood, has once again stirred controversy with her fiery remarks on actress Tamannaah Bhatia. In a recent chat with Hindi Rush, Rakhi mocked Tamannaah’s
choice to perform in item numbers, suggesting that big-screen heroines only take up such roles when their acting careers slow down.
“Tamanaah se meri koi problem nahi hai. Bus yeh hai ki Baahubali jaisi achchi films kari, suddenly hamare jaise item song kyu karne lagi. You played the main heroine in multi-crore films, suddenly what’s the point in doing 5-10 lakh worth songs like Aaj Ki Raat? Yeh beer bar type ke song humein suit karte hain,” Rakhi said. She added that mainstream actresses are blurring boundaries by taking every kind of role — “Now she will play heroine also, do item song also, play the sister also, what would we do then?”
‘OG Hum Hi Hain’: Rakhi On New-Age Item Girls
In another interview with Filmygyan, Rakhi doubled down on her claim that today’s actresses lack the energy and authenticity she brought to her performances. “Yeh log hum log ko dekh-dekh kar item song karna seekh gaye. Yeh pehle heroine banna chahte the, jab inka heroine mein career nahi chala, toh inhone humare pet par laat maar ke item song karne lag gaye. Sharam karo! OG toh hum hi hain. Aur hum ab heroine banenge,” she declared.
Rakhi also announced that she is making a full-fledged comeback to Bollywood — not just as a dancer, but as a lead actress. Known for her chartbusters like Pardesia and Dekhta Hai Tu Kya, she revealed plans to return to India permanently after spending the past few years in Dubai.
Apart from her professional comeback, Rakhi’s personal life has also been in the spotlight. Her troubled marriage with Adil Khan Durrani led to a highly publicised divorce filled with accusations and legal drama. Recently, the Bombay High Court quashed all pending cases between the two after Rakhi withdrew her objections, bringing closure to the chapter.
Adil celebrated the development on social media, writing, “After years of struggle, patience, and faith… this day has finally come… Thank you to everyone who supported me through every challenge.”
