Mumbai, May 22 (PTI) The Maharashtra government has cancelled the transfers of 16 senior IPS officers, reassigning 14 of them to new posts within six days of the original order, a police official confirmed
on Friday.
As per the revised order by the home department on Thursday, 14 officers have been given fresh appointments, while two are yet to receive their new postings, the official said.
IPS officer Kumath Chintha, who was appointed deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Nagpur city, in an order issued on May 15, and Nityanand Jha, who was earlier posted as superintendent of police (SP), Yavatmal, have also not been given a fresh appointment.
IPS officer Akbar Pathan, who was transferred to the Police Academy in Nashik in the earlier order, has now been posted to Mumbai city, and Deepak Girhe, who was appointed DCP, Amravati, has now been transferred as SP, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Nashik.
Senior IPS officer Pravin Padwal, who was earlier posted as special inspector general of police (IGP), Nashik, has now been appointed as Special IGP, VIP Security, Dadar.
Other IPS officers, including Sanjay Yenpure, Punjabrao Ugale, Mahesh Patil, Sambhaji Kadam, Sanjay Saragouda Patil, Vikrant Deshmukh, Preeti Tipre, Himmat Jadhav, Ramesh Chopde, Tanaji Chukle and Balasaheb Patil, were also shifted to different postings within six days, the official said.
