As fans eagerly wait for the sequel to Robert Pattinson’s 2022 thriller The Batman, there is an exciting update regarding Batman Part II. Renowned Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson, who is best known
for playing Black Widow in Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Avengers films, is expected to join DC with the upcoming instalment of Matt Reeves’ Batman.
According to a report by Nexus Point News, the 41-year-old actress is in final talks to join The Batman Part II. If the deal is confirmed, it would be a significant development in the project, which is scheduled to go on the floors next year. While details about her role in the sequel have not been revealed, a source told the outlet that she might play a new love interest for Bruce Wayne/Batman, played by Robert Pattinson. Meanwhile, a report by Variety confirmed that Zoe Kravitz won’t be returning to the sequel as Selina Kyle/Catwoman.
When Will The Batman Part II Release?
The story of Batman Part II will pick up right after the events of the first film, which was released in 2022. The film was a commercial success, grossing $772 million worldwide against an approximate budget of $200 million. Previously, there were reports that the sequel to Batman would hit theatres in 2025. But now, it is expected to premiere in 2027. Robert Pattinson will return as Batman.
Earlier this year, the Mickey 17 actor joked that by the time the sequel finally arrives, he’ll be playing an “old Batman.” Speaking with Hero Magazine, the actor humorously remarked, “I started as young Batman, and I’m going to be f**ing old Batman by the sequel. I’m 38, I’m old, but I’m healthier. I think I’ve brought my biological age down a bit.” Besides him, the cast of The Batman included Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell.
What’s Next For Scarlett Johansson?
The two-time Oscar nominee was last seen on-screen in Jurassic World Rebirth, which was released in July. She played the role of a covert operations expert in the film, which also featured Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Ed Skrein. This year, Scarlett also made her directorial debut with Eleanor the Great, which starred June Squibb.
She currently has Ray Gunn and Paper Tiger in the pipeline, and will also begin filming a new take on The Exorcist from filmmaker Mike Flanagan.
