Authorities have rolled out a detailed set of safety guidelines for commuters using the newly developed ‘Missing Link’ stretch on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, aimed at reducing accident risks and ensuring
smoother traffic flow along the corridor.
As part of the advisory, stopping vehicles anywhere on the route for selfies, photography, or any non-essential activity has been strictly prohibited. According to a report in My Pune Pulse, officials have cautioned that such behaviour can lead to dangerous situations, especially given the high-speed nature of the stretch.
Motorists violating the rule may face penalties and enforcement action.
Speed Limits Fixed For Different Vehicle Categories
To maintain road safety, authorities have clearly defined speed limits for vehicles using the corridor. Light motor vehicles are permitted to travel at speeds of up to 100 kmph. However, buses and other passenger-carrying vehicles are required to follow a lower speed cap of 80 kmph, considering passenger safety and vehicle handling requirements.
Officials emphasised that adhering to these limits is crucial to preventing mishaps, particularly on sections involving tunnels and elevated structures.
24×7 CCTV Surveillance Across Entire Corridor
In a move to strengthen monitoring and enforcement, the entire stretch, including tunnels and bridges, has been placed under continuous 24×7 CCTV surveillance. The system is expected to help authorities keep a close watch on traffic movement, detect violations in real time, and respond quickly to emergencies.

This round-the-clock monitoring is also intended to deter risky behaviour such as overspeeding and unauthorised halts.
Call For Public Cooperation To Ensure Safe Commute
Authorities have urged commuters to strictly follow all traffic regulations while using the ‘Missing Link’ stretch. They stressed that public cooperation will play a key role in ensuring that the corridor remains safe, efficient, and free from avoidable disruptions.
With the route expected to handle significant traffic volumes, officials reiterated that responsible driving and adherence to guidelines are essential for a smooth and hassle-free travel experience.
