Sunrisers Hyderabad coasted to a 6-wicket win over Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday as fifties from Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen helped SRH chase down the target of 244
with 8 balls remaining.
MI posted the total riding on an unbeaten 123-run knock, while Will Jacks added 46 and Hardik Pandya chipped in with 31 runs as Eshan Malinga was the pick of the bowlers for SRH with his four-fer. But Head’s 76 and Klaasen’s 65 runs knocks, in addition to Salil Arora’s brisk late-cameo took the visitors over the line.
Will Jacks and Ryan rickelton gave MI a quick star as the duo put up a 93-run stand in rapid fashion before Jacks was sent back to the hut by Nitish Kumar Reddy for 46 off just 22 balls as Ishan Kishan completed the catching formalities.
Rickelton kept plugging away at his ends while Suryakumar Yadav, who has been woefully out of form in recent times, fell cheaply for 5 runs to Eshan Malinga. Rickelton went on to continue his innings and brought up his half-century while Naman Dhir added 22 runs before Praful Hinge got his man.
Pandya contributed with 31 runs off his bat off just 15 deliveries before he fell prey to Sakib Hussain, while Tilak Verma was removed for 7 off 5 by Hinge.
Rickleton continued his onslaught at the other end as he breached the triple-digit mark with his unbeaten 123 runs knock off just 55 balls to take MI to a total of 243/5 in 20 overs.
SRH started their chase with aplomb as Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head put the MI bowlers to the sword with a whirlwind 129-runs opening stand before Allah Ghazanfar removed the former for 45 off 24. Ishan Kishan was sent back to the dug-out by Ghazanfar for a golden duck.
Head brought up his half-century and went on to add 76 runs off just 30 deliveries before skipper Pandya removed the danger man.
Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy steered SRH towards the target with yet another solid stand between the two as the protea batter raced to his fifty in just 22 deliveries.
Reddy was scalped by Trent Boutl for 21 runs before Salil Arora’s explosive cameo towards the end took SRH over the line as the youngster remained unbeaten on 30 runs off 10 deliveries with Klaasen for company unbeaten on 65 runs off 30 balls.
