Priyanka Chopra is finally making her Indian cinema comeback with SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi after nearly six years. A few years ago, the actress made a move to the US to work in Hollywood projects, but fans
missed watching her in Indian movies. Although Priyanka established herself in Hollywood, she did miss one thing about Indian movies- dancing. For Varanasi, Priyanka requested SS Rajamouli for a lot of dancing.
In an interview with Cinema Blend, Priyanka Chopra said, “So, I haven’t done an Indian film in six years. So when SS Rajamouli called me and was like, ‘This female character is really cool, and you have to be in it,’ whatever. And so I was like, ‘I have one request, can you make me dance, please? Because I haven’t danced in so long.'”

Mahesh Babu added, “He made her dance and how.” Priyanka said, “Woah, I should not have asked because we be dancing. Oh my god, there’s a lot. And poor Mahesh was like, ‘Just because of you, I have to do it too.'” Mahesh Babu said, “It’s sensational. I think one song we’ve already shot for, and it keeps playing in our minds. She kept singing it all the time. That song was because she wanted to dance.”
Meanwhile, the teaser of Varanasi gave a glimpse of Mahesh Babu’s character Rudhra, and showed him holding a trishul, covered in blood and riding a bull. Priyanka Chopra plays Mandakini in the film, while Prithviraj Sukumaran plays the antagonist, Kumbha. Their first look posters were unveiled a few months ago. Oscar-winning composer MM Keeravani is handling the music for the film, while the story is penned by V Vijayendra Prasad.
The film is being described as one of India’s most ambitious cinematic spectacles. Earlier, a report by The Citizen from Tanzania claimed that the film revolves around a “rugged explorer” who is fighting an enemy to protect the world. “Inspired by Indiana Jones and African adventure classics, the film follows a rugged explorer who sets out on a high-stakes mission through uncharted terrain, battling nature, mystery, and a powerful enemy to uncover a long-lost secret that could change the world. Think ancient legends, wild landscapes, and edge-of-your-seat thrills,” the synopsis of the movie, as quoted by the Tanzanian media portal, said.
