A late-night food delivery order ended tragically in Bengaluru on Saturday when a 38-year-old delivery agent lost his life in a hit-and-run accident.
The victim, identified as Surender Bahadur, is a native
of Nepal. He was riding his scooter near the Bhattarahalli Signal in KR Puram around 3.30 AM when the accident occurred.
He was on his way to deliver a food order when a car allegedly hit his two-wheeler. The driver did not stop and fled the scene, police said.
People passing by noticed Bahadur lying injured on the road and rushed him to a nearby hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
When police reached the accident site, they found his scooter badly damaged, especially at the front, showing the force of the impact.
Officers found the food he had picked up for his final order, which included Cheese Jalapeno Fries and a Veggie Supreme Burger.
Bahadur had moved to Bengaluru around three years ago in search of work and was earning a living as a delivery partner with food delivery company Swiggy.
A case has been registered at the KR Puram Traffic Police Station. Police have begun searching for the car involved and the person behind the wheel.
The officials are reviewing CCTV cameras from the area are being checked as investigators try to piece together what happened and bring the driver to account.
