Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday accused the Congress of maintaining links with Pakistan’s narrative, alleging that the country has repeatedly paid the price for what he described as the opposition
party’s approach towards national security.
Addressing an election rally in Assam’s Barpeta ahead of the April 9 assembly polls, PM Modi claimed that Congress leaders had echoed positions favourable to Pakistan during India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’, reiterating his broader criticism of the party’s record on defence and governance.
“Congress has given encouragement to Pakistan. During ‘Operation Sindoor’, Congress echoed the same narrative that Pakistan was pushing. This Pakistan connection of Congress leaders has always existed,” PM Modi alleged, asserting that such positions had historically harmed national interests.
The Prime Minister’s remark came while he was addressing an election rally in Assam to canvass support for BJP candidates contesting the April 9 elections to 126 assembly constituencies.
The Barpeta rally is among the key campaign events, followed by public meetings in Hojai and Dibrugarh.
