Iran will not end the hostilities until all sanctions on it have been lifted and the war damages are paid by the United States.
“The war will continue until all damages to Iran are compensated and sanctions
on it are lifted,” military adviser to Iran Supreme Leader, Mohsen Rezaei, said.
In addition to this, Rezaei asserted that Iran wants international guarantees of US non-interference in the Islamic Republic’s internal affairs. He added that this is a decision of the Iranian people, Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, and armed forces.
The statement came after US President Donald Trump softened his tone on the Middle East tensions and indicated that Washington and Tehran have begun what he described as “very good and productive conversations” aimed at a full resolution of the escalating conflict.
Trump, in fact, also said that he had ordered the postponement of any planned strikes on Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for five days to allow the talks to continue.
However, Tehran firmly rejected the claims of negotiations and stated that “no talks have been held with the US, and fake news is being used to manipulate the financial and oil markets and escape the quagmire in which the US and Israel are trapped.”
Iran’s Parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf informed that the Iranian people demand “complete and remorseful punishment of the aggressors” and that all officials remain firmly behind their “Supreme Leader and people until this goal is achieved”.
Notably, the US President’s “productive talks” claim came just within days after Trump on Saturday issued a 48-hour ultimatum demanding that Iran reopen the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz. He warned of massive strikes against Iranian power infrastructure if Tehran failed to comply. At the time, there was no mention of diplomacy or dialogue.
