Delhi’s H1N1 outbreak shows no sign of slowing. The city logged 199 new swine flu cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the cumulative tally to 3,006 — the season’s second-highest single-day count, after
258 cases were recorded on 24 August, still the highest so far this season.
The 199 cases logged on 29 August confirm that Delhi’s H1N1 spread remains far from under control. According to Navbharat Times, the season’s Influenza-A tally for Delhi now stands at 3,843, or 4,649 including patients from outside the capital.
Amar Ujala, however, reports a combined Influenza A+B season total of 4,107 for Delhi, rising to 5,020 with outside-Delhi patients.

Doctors say swine flu transmission hasn’t slowed and fresh cases keep surfacing daily. But they caution that swings in the numbers also depend on how many people get tested on a given day — meaning a spike can reflect more testing as much as more spread.

Experts have clarified that not everyone needs testing right now. Even when one family member tests positive, testing the rest of the household isn’t considered mandatory. Patients with ordinary cough, cold or mild fever are being advised to avoid unnecessary hospital visits.
