Rockstar Games has confirmed that players will be able to pre-load Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) on November 10, ahead of its November 19 release. The pre-load will be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox
Series X|S, which will allow players who have purchased the digital version to download the game before launch day.
However, players will need to make room on their consoles before the download begins. According to Rockstar Games, the GTA 6 will require up to 212GB of available storage, depending on the device. Those who already have several games installed may need to delete some titles or remove other files to complete the download.
GTA 6 Pre-Load Date And Timings For PS5 And Xbox
Rockstar has announced different pre-load timings for PlayStation and Xbox users. On the PS5, GTA 6 pre-loading will begin on November 10 at 12 AM local time. This means players in India will be able to start downloading the game from midnight on November 10.
For Xbox Series X|S users, the pre-load will begin globally at 12 AM GMT on November 10. In India, this translates to 5:30 AM IST on the same day.
Players who have digitally pre-ordered the game can also enable automatic downloads. PS5 users need to turn on the auto-download option and keep their console switched on or in Rest Mode. Xbox players must enable automatic updates and leave their console powered on or in Sleep mode.
The pre-load will allow players to get the game files ready before its release. However, downloading the game early will not provide early access. Players will only be able to start playing when GTA 6 officially launches.
GTA 6 Release Date And Physical Copy Availability
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026 for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not announced a PC release date as part of the current launch plans.
Players who prefer purchasing games from retail stores will also have another option. Code-in-a-box editions for the PS5 and Xbox are expected to become available at retailers from November 12, 2026. These editions will not include a physical disc. Instead, buyers will receive a download code that can be redeemed to install the game on their console.
Rockstar will also release some digital content for GTA 6 fans on launch day. A printable version of the game’s cover-art poster and a map of Leonida will be available as free downloads through the company’s official website on November 19.
Lastly, A physical, double-sided version of the poster will also be available through the Rockstar Store shortly after launch. It will cost $0.99 (roughly Rs 93.76), but Rockstar says buyers can get it for free with any purchase from the store.
