The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and the Government of India have issued a high-security alert across all airports in the country ahead of Independence Day, prompting intensified screening
and patrol measures.
In an advisory released on Monday, authorities urged passengers to arrive well in advance of their flights, warning that security checks could take longer than usual due to the enhanced protocols.
“In view of the alerts issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and the Government of India ahead of Independence Day, security measures at all airports have been intensified. Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport well in advance, as security checks may take longer than usual. Be vigilant, stay alert and immediately report if any 0 unattended items or suspicious activity is noticed to CISF personnel or airport staff,” a CISF post on X said.
“Security is everyone’s responsibility. Be the eyes and ears of the security team,” the advisory stated, emphasising that public cooperation plays a critical role in ensuring the safety of passengers and the skies.
The heightened measures are part of a broader national effort to safeguard key infrastructure and public spaces during the Independence Day period.
