A video of a man talking about driving on the wrong side of the road while talking about the “benefits” of his Mahindra Thar has fuelled a controversy on social media.
A video, which has gone viral, shows
him saying that “the biggest advantage” of Thar is that “no one will bother you even if you drive on the wrong side.”
A social media user under the name Rattan Dhillon shared the video, slamming the driver. “COVID ended, but another epidemic took over our roads: the Thartards mentality virus! This mindset is beyond insane. How does buying a vehicle suddenly delete common sense? It’s honestly shocking and dangerous. If anyone can genuinely figure out what psychological switch flips after buying a Thar, I’ll happily sponsor a full week’s vacation for them! Until then, save your near and dear ones from buying this vehicle as this epidemic is real and spreading fast,” he wrote on X.

Social Media Reaction
The video has sparked a debate online, with many social media users expressing anger and frustration over what they described as a “Thartard mentality” — a term commonly used to call out reckless and entitled behaviour associated with some owners of this SUV model.
“It’s not just Thar veerji, it’s every entitled man who has bought a car in India at the moment Civic sense is going zero in India,” one social media user wrote.
“The problem isn’t the Thar or Scorpio. It’s the entitlement some drivers think comes free with it,” said a second.
A third commented, “Can I suggest one thing? if anyone caught in an accident with their vehicle or driving recklessly fine heavily, seize the vehicle, and sell it off and use that money employ more people to clean our public places.”

The incident adds to a series of recent, widely reported traffic violations involving Mahindra Thar vehicles.

In another incident in March 2025, a Thar driver in Noida was arrested and fined Rs 38,000 for driving on the wrong side of the road and crashing into several vehicles following an altercation.
