Thalapathy Vijay, who enjoys a massive fan following, recently took the oath as Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister. Interestingly, he wore a black pantsuit instead of a traditional shirt-and-veshti ensemble.
His outfit grabbed everyone’s attention and it instantly became a talking point among his fans. Now, the actor-turned-politician has revealed the reason behind sporting a black and white pant suit.
On June 1, Vijay held his first public rally as the CM in Tiruchirappalli, weeks after taking over office. Since entering politics, Vijay has frequently been spotted wearing the same black-and-white suit at official meetings, public appearances, and government events, making it a defining element of his public persona. Over time, the outfit has become closely associated with him, sparking discussions among supporters. Addressing the buzz surrounding his sartorial choice during the rally, Vijay acknowledged the attention his attire has garnered and shared his thoughts on the reason behind sticking to the now-signature ensemble.
While talking to the crowd, he said, “Many people have been talking about the new suit that I have been wearing recently. Are we not allowed to wear a coat and suit? Is it meant only for people in positions of authority? There is nothing like that. I am not wearing many colours. It is just black and white, like all our hearts. The choice of these colours is to show that I will remain transparent and simple in everything, just like black and white. I am not someone who gives lengthy explanations or speaks unnecessarily. As people know, I usually speak for less than 20 minutes at most meetings.” Soon after he made the comment, the crowd gathered at the rally cheered out loud.
Meanwhile, Vijay is awaiting the release of his final film, Jana Nayagan. The film was supposed to hit theatres in January 2026 before his political transition. However, the film faced massive setbacks with CBFC, and later, a few scenes from the film got leaked online. The makers are yet to announce the fresh release date.
