Sometimes, promotion clips end up being funnier than full-length shows. That’s exactly what’s happening with a new video featuring Sunil Grover and Aamir Khan, which has quickly started doing the rounds
online. The clip, released to promote Aamir Khan’s upcoming production Happy Patel, shows Sunil once again slipping into a pitch-perfect Aamir avatar. This time, the joke goes a step further. Not only does Sunil fool Vir Das, he also manages to get the real Aamir Khan escorted out of his own office. How the prank unfolds The video opens with Vir Das walking into what he believes is Aamir Khan’s office. Sitting inside is Sunil Grover, dressed exactly like Aamir and completely in character. Vir looks unsure at first, clearly trying to figure out whether something feels off. But Sunil doesn’t break character even for a second. Playing Aamir, Sunil warmly praises Happy Patel, which marks Vir’s directorial debut and also features him in a key role. He tells Vir, “I am so proud of you. What film you have made.” Things only get more absurd from there. Sunil, still pretending to be Aamir, hands Vir a bonus cheque and pushes him to plan a sequel. He says, “It is my experience. If the film isn’t a super hit than my name is not Aamir Khan. It will get a Oscar. Take sequel’s cheque.” When the real Aamir walks in Just when the scene seems settled, the real Aamir Khan enters. He looks visibly annoyed and asks, “Who is this?” Vir, still convinced Sunil is the real deal, fails to recognise Aamir and even faces a threat of being slapped. Sunil then turns to Aamir and casually asks, “Aap kaun hai bhaisahab?” The confusion peaks when Vir points at Aamir and declares, “He is Sunil Grover.” That’s enough to send Aamir over the edge. He calls for security, but the guards are soon distracted by generous cheques from fake Aamir. Completely confused, they end up dragging the real Aamir Khan out of the office, leaving Sunil behind. The clip ends on that perfectly timed punchline. Aamir’s reaction to Sunil’s mimicry This isn’t the first time Sunil’s Aamir act has gone viral. His mimicry during an episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show recently caught massive attention online. Reacting to it in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Aamir said, “I wouldn’t even call it mimicry. It was so authentic, I felt like I was watching myself. I saw a small clip, and now I’m going to watch the whole episode.” He added, “What I saw was priceless. I was laughing so much I couldn’t breathe! There was no malice in it at all. I must have laughed the loudest.” The episode featured Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday as guests, both of whom were seen laughing uncontrollably during Sunil’s act.
