A 21-year-old man was arrested by the Delhi police over alleged rash and dangerous driving on a busy stretch of National Highway-48 here in the capital, after a purported video of the incident went viral
on social media, NDTV reported, citing an official.
The police have also impounded the vehicle for violating traffic rules. Taking note of the video shared by a social media user, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said in a post on ‘X’ that an FIR has been registered in the matter at Samaypur Badli police station.
“A case has been registered under the BNS and Motor Vehicle Act at Samaypur Badli police station. Offending vehicle Scorpio has been seized. Driver has been arrested who is a student of IGNOU,” the chief minister wrote on X.
According to the police, as cited by the outlet, the incident came to light on January 18 when a video surfaced featuring a black Scorpio-N vehicle being driven in a zigzag manner on the GT Karnal Bypass Road towards Narela, causing panic among pedestrians and other drivers.

Taking cognisance of the purported video, the police sprang into action and initiated an initiated a probe.
“The offending vehicle, which was being driven recklessly & dangerously, has been seized and the driver has been arrested for rash & negligent driving under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita & the MV Act”, the Delhi police wrote on ‘X’.
According to an official, the driver has been identified as Daud Ansari (21), a resident of Okhla. During the inspection, it was learnt that the vehicle was registered in the name of his father, Musafir Ansari, NDTV reported.
Meanwhile, the driving license of the accused has been seized, and further legal proceedings are underway.
