The 2025 MTV Video Music Award (VMA) nominations are finally out, and while Western artists dominate the list, K-pop stars are making a powerful impact. Lady Gaga leads with the most overall nods, but
it’s BLACKPINK’s Rose who has taken many by surprise with eight nominations, the highest for any South Korean artist this year.
She’s not alone, as fellow BLACKPINK members Lisa, Jisoo, and Jennie have also earned nominations. BTS’ Jimin joins the list as well, much to the delight of fans. Adding to the excitement, groups like Stray Kids and aespa have also secured nominations, highlighting K-pop’s continued global rise.
K-Pop Stars Shine Bright In This Year’s VMA Nominations:
Rose has earned the majority of recognition at VMAs this year with multiple nominations across top categories. Her collaboration with Bruno Mars in APT has been nominated for Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Collaboration and Best Pop category. The music video, directed by Mars and Daniel Ramos, is also in the race for Best Direction. Elizabeth Puksto’s name is on the list for Best Art Direction and for Best Visual Effects, and Maksymilian Rafal Ojster’s name appears on the list. That’s not all, Rose is also nominated in the Best K-Pop category for her solo track Toxic Till the End, featuring Evan Mock.
The Best K-Pop category at the MTV Video Music Awards is packed with powerful names from South Korea this year. Alongside Rose’ hit track, other nominees include aespa’s Whiplash, Jennie’s Like Jennie, Jimin’s Who, Earthquake by Jisoo and Lisa’s Born Again featuring Doja Cat and RAYE. Stray Kids also made it to the list with their energetic track Chk Chk Boom.

Lady Gaga leads the pack with 12 nominations in categories such as Artist of the Year, Video of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Album. Her latest hits, Mayhem, Die With a Smile, and Abracadabra, have helped her land these top spots.
The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live on September 7, and before that, fans can show support for their favourite artists by voting on MTV’s official website. Voting is open now and will continue until September 6.
