Mumbai Police have imposed a ban on drones and other flying objects in the city for one month, effective from September 6. The order also restricts the use of hot air balloons, remote-controlled microlight
aircraft, paragliders, paramotors, hang gliders, and drones across the city.
The restrictions will remain in force from 00:01 hrs on September 6 until 24:00 hrs on October 5, 2024, under Section 163 of the
Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.The ban has been imposed to ensure public safety and security, coinciding with the heavy crowds expected in the city for Ganesh Visarjan today, September 6.
Major traffic diversions have been in place, and security has been heightened ahead of the Visarjan on Saturday.
Besides restrictions on flying objects, the Mumbai Police has reportedly also banned photography, publication, and circulation of images of partially dissolved Ganpati and Gauri idols till September 87.
The police have noted that any such images going viral online may hurt the religious sentiment of people and may also lead to a disruption in public harmony.

The 10-day Ganeshotsav celebrations started on August 27. The festival concludes on Anantha Chaturdashi and is celebrated with decorated homes and pandals, prayers, music, and lively processions.
