Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious adaptation of the Indian epic Ramayana has remained in the spotlight ever since the makers unveiled its first teaser earlier this year. With the film now gearing up for its worldwide
theatrical release on November 5, lead actor Ranbir Kapoor and co-producer Namit Malhotra have addressed the online trolling and memes that have surrounded the project in recent months.
Ranbir Kapoor talks about Ramayana trolling
Speaking at an IIMUN event, Ranbir Kapoor, who plays the role of Lord Rama, addressed the criticism and online trolling surrounding Ramayana. Interacting with students, the actor shared his perspective on the memes and reactions the film has attracted since the release of its first teaser. He said, “What’s relevant today is this beauty of trolling online. It goes back to the good ol’ song ‘Kuchh to log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna‘. I think that’s a great philosophy to actually follow in life. Don’t be bothered by what people are saying. What matters is the people who matter, the people who care for your work, your intention, and your kindness. That’s what matters the most.”
Talking About Online Trolling, Ranbir Said:-
“I believe in the philosophy of ‘Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, Logon Ka Kaam Hai Kehna!’
Don’t let the noise bother you. If your intentions are right and your hard work and dedication are honest, let your work do the talking.” https://t.co/ucNtb2j3bx

Director Nitesh Tiwari also reacted to the same and said, “If your conscience is clear, and if our effort was hundred per cent, then what else do you need?”
Meanwhile, in a recent international interview, Prime Focus founder and Ramayana co-producer Namit Malhotra also addressed the online criticism, trolling and memes directed at the film. He said, “Honestly, after a point, I’ve started laughing at it because it’s meant for humour. All these people just want to have fun at someone’s expense. Today, it’s me. Tomorrow, it’ll be someone else. They just need someone in the news today to make fun of. The best in the world are getting trolled today. So, I just take it in the stride and enjoy it because how often do you get that opportunity?”
Malhotra pointed out that the film has received considerable appreciation on social media as well, not just criticism and memes. He said he was enjoying the positive response and added that both praise and criticism were part of the journey. Drawing a parallel with Lord Rama’s words in the film about accepting the crown and exile with equal grace, he said one must learn to embrace both the good and the bad that life brings.
The much-awaited film also features Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman and Yash as Ravana. The supporting cast includes Arun Govil as King Dasharatha, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Sheeba Chaddha as Manthara, Kunal Kapoor as Indra, Rakul Preet Singh as Shurpanakha, Vivek Oberoi as Vidyutjiva and Anupam Kher as Jatayu. It is set to hit theatres on November 5.
