Fresh speculation from Bollywood circles suggests that Karna, the ambitious mythological drama that was once planned as Suriya’s Bollywood debut, could be heading for a revival. According to recent buzz,
actor Salman Khan may reportedly step into the project if filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra decides to revive the long-shelved film.
123 Telugu reported that Suriya and Rang De Basanti director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra had teamed up for the mythological drama Karna. The project was supposed to mark Suriya’s Bollywood debut, but it was shelved during the pre-production stage due to budget constraints. And now it is being reported that Salman Khan will join hands with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra for a period drama to be produced by Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment. And Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is planning to revive Karna with Salman Khan in the lead role. However, nothing has been confirmed till now and it is still in speculation stage.
Salman Khan To Team Up With Farhan Akhtar
The reported collaboration has already generated significant buzz, with sources claiming that the duo has been holding discussions for a large-scale period action drama. Pinkvilla quoted source saying, “Salman Khan and Farhan Akhtar have been meeting regularly over the last month and discussing a potential collaboration. Salman has loved what he has heard so far and has shown keen interest in the project. The talks are still at an early stage and have not yet reached the paperwork phase, but both sides are excited about the possibility of coming together for the first time.”
The source further reveals, “It is a massive period action drama mounted on a grand scale. The idea is to tell the story across 2 films.” However, more clarity on the project and its progress is expected by the end of the year. If everything goes as planned, the untitled period drama will be Salman Khan’s next film after his superhero comedy with Raj and DK.
