The Don 3 controversy has become one of Bollywood’s biggest talking points after reports of Ranveer Singh’s unexpected exit from the film. Following the development, Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment
reportedly sought nearly Rs 45 crore in compensation, citing losses incurred during pre-production. The episode has reignited discussions within the industry about the balance between an actor’s contractual commitments and creative choices. Amid the ongoing row, Suniel Shetty shared his perspective, asserting that no individual or organisation has the authority to ban an artist or their work, adding that such actions would not hold up in court.
While speaking to Times Now recently, Suniel Shetty, who is currently enjoying the release of Welcome To The Jungle, came out in support of Ranveer Singh. He said, “Nobody can ban an actor, nobody can ban art. Nobody has the right to. The Supreme Court will throw out the matter in a second.”
He praised both Farhan and Ranveer, saying he believes the two are sensible individuals who could work things out if they sat down for a conversation. Further backing Ranveer, he said, “Who are you to ban? Try and understand that this kid has given you 3 and half thousand crore revenue to the industry… Why would you want to ban him? If you ban something that people want to watch, what exactly are you trying to achieve?”
Meanwhile, the fallout between Farhan and Ranveer took an ugly turn after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against the actor. It became a point of discussion online, with many coming out in support of Ranveer. The actor’s legal team opposed the move, arguing that the federation had no legal authority to impose such a directive. The dispute was eventually resolved through mediation by IMPPA, following which FWICE withdrew its order in early June. At present, the makers of Don 3 have not announced a new casting lineup, and the project continues to remain on hold.
