SpiceJet Flight Row: Passengers aboard a SpiceJet Delhi-Pune flight faced discomfort before take-off after the aircraft cabin became extremely hot, with several passengers reportedly experiencing breathing
difficulties.
The SpiceJet flight (Delhi-PXQ) was carrying passengers of different age groups, including children and elderly people.
An X user narrated the ordeal on the social media platform, saying that after the passengers boarded the flight at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, the cabin temperature of the aircraft began rising sharply leaving several people drenched in sweat and struggling to breathe.

He said that despite the reported discomfort, the aircraft was allegedly moved towards the runway. Passengers then raised an alarm and refused to allow the flight to take off, demanding that the problem be addressed.
“After boarding the flight, the temperature inside the aircraft suddenly shot up dramatically. The temperature rose so much that people couldn’t bear it. Everyone was drenched in sweat. People started facing a lot of difficulty even breathing. In such a situation, the flight was brought to the runway,” he said.
As per the netizen,the captain and other airline personnel shouted at them and threatened to call the police when they protested.
The situation reportedly escalated until a technical problem with the aircraft was detected. The passengers subsequently staged a protest at the airport and demanded action from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, alleging that their safety had been compromised.
He said that the airline committed a grave sin by providing “such extremely poor service and putting passengers’ lives in danger”.
This is not the first time that SpiceJet is facing fresh questions over passenger safety and onboard conditions.
Last week, passengers on a delayed SpiceJet flight from Pune to Delhi claimed that they were left without food or beverages for several hours after the flight was repeatedly delayed, causing inconvenience, particularly to elderly travellers and those with medical conditions. The flight, SG-937, was originally scheduled to depart from Pune at 5.55 am. However, its departure was delayed multiple times before it finally took off at around 8.30 am and landed in Delhi at about 10.30 am.
Earlier in February this year, passengers aboard SpiceJet flight SG1082 from Mumbai to Goa were reportedly stuck inside the aircraft for more than 90 minutes without air conditioning.
The flight was delayed before take-off, with passengers alleging that the cabin became unbearably hot. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Ambadas Danve had shared his experience on X, describing the aircraft as a “metal oven” and questioning who would be responsible if a passenger suffered a heat-related medical emergency.
Danve had urged the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Mumbai airport authorities to take action over the incident.
SpiceJet, however, issued a clarification, saying that flight SG1082 was ready for its scheduled departure on February 9, 2026, but could not take off because of congestion at Mumbai airport.
