Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s latest romantic drama, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, may have opened to favourable reviews, but the film’s box office journey hasn’t matched the buzz. Despite positive
word of mouth and strong performances, the movie is finding it difficult to draw audiences to theatres.
Directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, the film also stars Rohit Saraf and Sanya Malhotra in key roles. It was released on October 2, coinciding with a major festival week.
Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari: Box Office Collection
According to data from sacnilk.com, the film earned around Rs 2 crore nett in India on Thursday, taking its eight-day total to Rs 40.75 crore. This marks the lowest single-day collection since its release. After a decent opening of Rs 9.25 crore, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari managed a weekend total of about Rs 30 crore, but its weekday numbers have dropped steadily.
Trade analysts believe that the film’s underperformance may be linked to its box office clash with Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1, which continues to dominate theatres across India. The Kannada-language epic has already surpassed the Rs 100 crore mark, leaving little room for competing titles.
Despite the star-studded cast, glossy production, and melodious soundtrack, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari seems to be losing steam at the ticket window. Industry trackers predict that the film’s lifetime collection could end up in the range of Rs 50–60 crore, far below expectations for a Dharma Productions venture.
