A woman biker in Mumbai faced an unsettling experience in traffic when a man on another bike began following her persistently. What started as casual compliments quickly crossed boundaries, making her feel
unsafe.
The incident surfaced through an Instagram post by Manasi Hodavdekar, who shared a video capturing the man’s behaviour.
Mumbai Woman Biker Followed By Man
In the video, the man on the bike first approaches Manasi while in traffic and says, “Bike mast hai (The bike is awesome.)” Manasi responds politely, “Thank you.” He continues with compliments by praising “Aap bike sahi chala rahe ho (You’re riding the bike well.),” “Aap actor ho kya? (Are you an actor?)” and “Ab ghar jake dekhna padega (Now I’ll have to see when you get home.)”
As the ride progressed, his behaviour became uncomfortable. At one point, he even asked, “Ghar aapka kahan hai? (Where is your house?)”
Manasi described her experience in the post caption: “I was navigating my way through traffic when this man came in. Initially, it was fine—‘bike achi hai, acha chala rahi ho’. But later, he made a few unwanted remarks.”
“Honestly, when he said ‘ghar kaha hai aapka’, I couldn’t hear him in the moment. I only realised it later while reviewing the footage. At the time, all I could hear was him murmuring, which I chose to ignore. Agar tab suna hota… reaction toh banta tha (If I had heard it then… there would have been a reaction from my side.),” she added.

What Are People Saying Online
As the video circulated online, many users expressed outrage and concern.
One user commented, “What’s happening to Mumbai? It’s really deteriorating, and my heart aches to see this.”
Another added, “I would have gone crazy if I were a woman.”
Someone else remarked, “Average male behaviour. This doesn’t shock me anymore,” while a person called it “so gross and unsettling.”
“Make guns legal for Indian women and watch all the street harassment go away in one day without even actually having to use the gun,” a person wrote.
“They don’t fear the law at all. Complete jungle raj,” read another comment.
Not An Isolated Case
Manasi’s experience is sadly not unique. Women riders across India often face harassment on the road. Recently, a woman biker in Gurugram was allegedly harassed by a man in an e-rickshaw who made sexually explicit gestures at her. That clip also drew attention for the woman’s reaction, who confronted him and questioned him about his actions.
