As the war in West Asia goes unabated, with both sides intensifying their attacks, Israel’s ambassador to the UN has said that his country was not part of any reported talks between the United States and
Iran later this week in Pakistan.
Speaking to reporters, Israel’s UN Ambassador Danny Danon said, “As we speak, Israel and the US continue to target military targets in Iran, and we will continue to do that,” reported The Times Of Israel.
Danon also accused Iran’s foreign minister, saying two weeks ago Iran didn’t have missiles with a range beyond 2,000 kilometres, and then it launched a missile that went nearly 4,000 kilometres toward Diego Garcia, a remote Indian Ocean island that hosts a major UK-US military base, the outlet reported.
Danon said, before proceeding with any negotiations to end the conflict Israel is determined to ensure that Iran has no nuclear or ballistic missile capability.
This comes after Pakistan’s foreign ministry said that it is ready to host talks between the United States and Iran.
“If the parties desire, Islamabad is always willing to host talks,” foreign ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said, reported Al Jazeera on Tuesday. “It has consistently advocated for dialogue and diplomacy to promote peace and stability in the region.”
Hours later, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also wrote on X that Pakistan “stands ready and honoured to be the host to facilitate meaningful and conclusive talks for a comprehensive settlement of the ongoing conflict”.
However, Tehran has denied that it is engaged in any talks with the US.
Meanwhile, Trump said on Monday that the US and Iran had held “very good and productive” conversations about the “complete and total resolution of hostilities in the Middle East.”
