An IndiGo pilot is winning hearts online for pulling off a touching surprise for his daughter during a routine flight from Mumbai to Nagpur.
Pilot Gurdish Singh used the aircraft’s public announcement system
to address passengers, only to reveal that the journey was extra special for him. Among those on board were his daughter and her Class 6 classmates, travelling for a school trip.
Singh later shared a video of the moment on Instagram, explaining the context behind the announcement.
“My passengers were my daughter and her grade 6 classmates, headed for a school trip. So I welcomed them with Gen-alpha vibes,” he captioned the post.
The pilot began with a standard in-flight welcome before switching to a personal note that took passengers by surprise.
“Ladies and gentlemen, good morning and welcome aboard IndiGo flight 6E5124 from Mumbai to Nagpur,” Singh said, before adding, “So the reason I am talking to you from the cabin today is because of a very person. My little princess, my daughter, is onboard today with her classmates heading to a school trip. She didn’t know that so I decided to surprise her.”
He also thanked the teachers and staff accompanying the students.
“To all the teachers taking care of our little ones, and all the support staff, a big round of applause for them,” Singh said.
The announcement then took a playful turn as the pilot adopted Gen Alpha-style slang to connect with the young passengers.

“I’m sliding into the quick vibe check. So grab your snacks, chill in your seat, and vibe out while we cruise at about 36,000 feet. My crew will make sure we vibe good up here,” he said, before adding with a laugh, “And Karam, please behave – your dad’s flying this plane.”
The video quickly went viral, with users praising Singh for blending professionalism with warmth and humour. Many described him as a caring father who made the trip memorable for the children.
“The coolest Gen Alpha dad!” one user commented, while another wrote, “Love how he’s learning the Gen Z slang for his daughter! Kudos to the Papa!”
The moment also brought back memories of another recent viral incident involving the airline. Last month, IndiGo cabin crew were widely appreciated after they were seen comforting and playing with a passenger’s toddler during a flight delay. The video, shared by passenger Rashmi Trivedi, highlighted the staff’s efforts to keep the child calm and entertained.
Both incidents have drawn praise for adding a human touch to air travel and creating moments that passengers are unlikely to forget.
