Planning a trip to cities in South India this New Year 2026? A foreign national is gaining significant attention on social media after he shared a video rating some of the popular destinations to visit
in the southern region of the country.
In a video shared on Instagram, content creator Rory Porter said he has been to India twice in 2025 and suggested some of his top places to visit in South India.
Rory Porter believes that those planning a trip to India for the first time should begin their journey in the southern region. He added that they “won’t regret” the overall experience.
“The first place in the south that I have been to, I know technically it is not really classed as south of India, but I am gonna go over anyway. It is Goa,” Porter said.

He highlighted that Goa is an “absolutely unbelievable place,” and has “great coastline”.
“You have got cows on the beach, you have got dogs, you have got all sorts of animals. People are super friendly. Food is good,” he added.
Porter suggested that Goa has “really relaxed vibes,” and noted that if you are looking looking forward to renting a car or a motorcycle, then this is probably the “best place to do it because the roads are much more chilled.”
Porter admitted that he “thoroughly enjoyed” his time in the state and even wished to extend his time and stayed a little bit longer.
“I am gonna give it a nine out of 10,” he said.
After Goa, Porter visited Kerala, where he stayed in Alleppey. In the city, Porter enjoyed a houseboat ride and even got to explore the area, besides having various local seafood delicacies.
During his stay in Alleppey, Porter said he explored the area on the river itself and stayed there for one night.
“It was unbelievable. We had some fish cooked by the chef… Met some lovely people on the boat and had an overall very, very pleasant experience,” he stated.
He has given this place a “nine out of 10”.
Post that, he visited Munnar. “We then made our way slightly inland to Munnar, which was also beautiful. Lots of plantations. Incredibly green once again. Very friendly people. We actually saw a martial arts show which was really cool,” he said.
He stayed in Munnar for a night and rated it “eight out of 10.”
Finally, Porter visited Kochi and highlighted that the city was “really nice” and clean. He even admired the architecture that remains inspired by the colonial rulers.
“Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the vibe. Once again, the people are so nice… I am going to give Kochi an eight out of 10,” he concluded.
How Did the Internet React
In the comments section of the post, several users praised Porter for his review, while some pointed out that he should have explored more cities in South India.
“Will go South one day,” one person wrote.
Another added, “Thank you so much for your recommendations. I’ll definitely be visiting these places now.”
A third person wrote, “Explore other states in Kerala too…Thank you for reviewing Kerala so nice… Come again.”
