For someone who has spent over three decades in the public eye, Shah Rukh Khan still manages to surprise fans with small, oddly specific habits. This time, it is not about his films or fame, but a personal
rule he quietly lives by. In a recent conversation, filmmaker Karan Johar shared a detail about SRK that left audiences amused — the superstar’s intense fixation on how jeans should fit. According to Karan, it is not just a preference. It is something Shah Rukh takes very seriously. ‘He has OCD about the fit of the jeans’ Karan Johar recently appeared on The Manyavar Shaadi Show, where he spoke candidly about Shah Rukh Khan’s personality. During the chat, he revealed, “He (Shah Rukh Khan) has OCD about the fit of the jeans.” The filmmaker went on to explain that SRK notices these details instantly and forms opinions quickly. “He can judge you if you wear badly-fitted jeans. He will think you are a bad person,” Karan added, drawing laughter from the hosts. What happens when Karan Johar visits Mannat Karan also shared how Shah Rukh’s obsession plays out during their personal meetings. According to him, even stepping into SRK’s home comes with silent pressure. “He is that crazy.. Jeans ko dekhkar he can… so everytime I go to Mannat, I say I am not wearing jeans, he will give me that eye and ask ‘Kaha se mili ye jeans?’ and I know, I am like ‘Oh God!’,” Karan said. The DDLJ connection behind the habit Interestingly, Karan traced this habit back to their very first professional interaction on the sets of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. At the time, Karan was working as an assistant director and was responsible for Shah Rukh Khan’s costumes. Looking at SRK’s frame, Karan suggested that he try a different denim brand, believing it would suit him better. The problem was that the brand was not easily available in India in 1994. Still, Karan went out of his way to arrange it and explain his reasoning. Shah Rukh, however, was unimpressed at first. “Kaun pagal aa gaya hai? Kaha se aya hai? Why is he giving me this advice?” he reportedly asked. Confused, SRK turned to Aditya Chopra, who calmly explained Karan’s background by saying, “Yeh South Bombay se aaya hai… inn logon ko pata hota hai [He is from South Bombay, these people know it].” According to Karan, that moment stayed with Shah Rukh Khan — and from then on, he developed a strong and lasting opinion about denim.
