As Sandeepa Dhar celebrates her birthday, the actor has also given fans a deeply personal glimpse into her roots. Few know that the actor belongs to a Kashmiri Pandit family, and her recent visit to Kashmir turned
into an emotional journey through memories, loss and belonging.
In a heartfelt social media post, Sandeepa shared pictures from her ancestral home in Kashmir — a place she had known only through her parents’ stories and old photographs. The visit marked her first time walking through the spaces that once shaped her family’s life before the exodus that forced them to leave their homeland nearly three decades ago.
During her trip, the actor revisited some of the most iconic locations that had lived on in her parents’ memories for years. From riding shikaras on the serene waters of Nigeen Lake to drinking spring water at Chashme Shahi, and wandering through the lush paths of Nishat Garden, Pahalgam and Gulmarg, Sandeepa retraced the footsteps of a life her family was once compelled to leave behind.
Reflecting on her experience, the actor admitted that while time has altered the landscape, the emotional connection remains intact. “Everything has changed and nothing has. The gardens aren’t as full and the house sits empty, yet somehow I felt like I’d always belonged here,” she shared. For Sandeepa, the visit felt like “finally stepping into the memories that came before me.”
The actor’s return to Kashmir was not just a nostalgic trip but a reconnection with her identity as a Kashmiri Pandit. On the professional front, Sandeepa Dhar will next be seen in Do Deewane Seher Main, with more projects expected to be announced soon. She was earlier seen in OTT projects such as Abhay and Netflix’s Mai.
