Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated Mizoram’s first-ever railway line, connecting Bairabi to Sairang. This historic development was celebrated across the state, marking a major step in improving
connectivity for the region. However, just a day after the grand inauguration, a concerning video surfaced, showing the new Sairang Railway Station in a dirty state.
A vlogger shared a video highlighting how the station premises were littered with used plates and garbage, despite the presence of dustbins. The video pointed out how people ignored these dustbins, leaving the area messy. This raised questions about public behaviour and responsibility in keeping public spaces clean.
People Should Maintain Cleanliness
In the video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the vlogger expressed disappointment over the situation. He remarked, “Meri baat buri lag sakti hai, par agar hum nahi rakhenge saaf apni jagah toh kaun rakhega.”
He emphasised that while the government invests in building infrastructure, maintaining cleanliness is a responsibility shared by the public.
The vlogger, who posted the video, captioned it, “This is the condition of Sairang Railway Station, Mizoram, after 24 hours of inauguration. @RailMinIndia @RailwaySeva. Please install some cameras at the station and find these people. Civic sense is on leave in India.”

The official Railway Seva X account responded to the video, stating, “For necessary action escalated to the concerned official. @Drm_lmg_nfr.”
This showed that the authorities are aware and likely to take action against such negligence.

The incident sparked several reactions from social media users.
A person wrote, “We can’t see India a developed nation until the people get educated on how to behave in public places. So sad truth.”
Another user said, “India will keep developing but people won’t. Lack of basic civics sense.”
A comment pointed out the government’s responsibility too, mentioning that dustbins were all placed in one corner, making it inconvenient for people to dispose of waste properly.
