A Zomato customer’s dinner took an unexpected turn after he claimed that tracking his delayed order on the app led him to the delivery partner’s location, where he allegedly found two people eating the food
he had ordered. The rider’s icon reportedly remained at the same spot for nearly 40 minutes.
In a post on X, user @RishabhKaushikk said he had placed an order from Khadak Singh Ka Dhaba through Zomato at 10:58 pm. However, the food did not arrive even though the app indicated that the delivery partner was nearby.
When he opened the tracking option to locate his order, he claimed that he instead found the delivery partner’s location and was surprised to see that two people were apparently enjoying his dinner.
Sharing screenshots of the location, Kaushik pointed out that the delivery partner’s icon had remained at the same spot for around 40 minutes. The screenshots reportedly showed a red scooter parked near a staircase, with open Zomato containers, foil wrappers and food leftovers scattered around. A helmet was also visible in the images.
What made the situation even more unusual was the information Kaushik said he received from Zomato’s customer support. According to him, he was told that the order had been “sold for ₹100”. He also took a dig at the platform’s customer service, claiming that there was “a bot sitting there too”.
In his post, Kaushik also wrote, “@deepigoyal, this isn’t food delivery anymore. It’s a full-fledged food-sharing economy. Legends say the delivery is still standing there.😭😭😭”
The post quickly gained traction, with several users sharing their own experiences and questioning the safeguards in place for food deliveries.
One user raised concerns about food safety, saying, “This isn’t acceptable. If the delivery partner can steal the food then they can also tamper the food by mixing anything. What about consumer’s safety? People should boycott @zomato.”
“Many times this happened with me also…Founders have to find ways to check out frauds done by few delivery executives, just because of few of such fraud executives the whole company reputation gets ruined…The founders must take some initiative to control and keep a check,” said another.
I ordered from Khadak Singh Ka Dhaba through @zomato at 10:58 PM. Didn’t receive it but the app told me that the delivery guy is nearby. Went to track my order and, instead of finding my food, I found the delivery partner’s location, and apparently, two people were enjoying my… pic.twitter.com/i0EAdY3aib

A third user said the possibility of such incidents was one reason they preferred paying cash for late-night orders. “This is the only reason I choose COD post 10 PM, just for my mental satisfaction.”
“Some days ago I ordered 2 dosas and recieved only 1, bot gave email id to contact, when raised issues through mail they replied after 4 days that there was no enough proof for the claim and hence they cant do anything,” said a fourth.
“Call the restaurant directly..dont rely on these chor apps..tgey loot tge restaurants, then harass you and the delivery riders are not happy either.. call tge restaurant, they will be more than happy to provide the service,” said one more user.
Following the viral post, Zomato’s customer support handle @ZomatoCare responded directly to Kaushik, writing, “Hey Rishabh, please share your order ID via DM so we can check this.”
