The Royal Challengers Bengaluru will get their title defence underway in the Indian Premier League on Saturday, the 28th of March 2026, against former champions Sunrisers Hyderabad in a mouth-watering
contest at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
RCB ended a 17-year title drought as No.18 Virat Kohli reached promised land on the 18th time of asking in a fairytale season for the side from Karnataka. Having ended the trophy-curse the side from Bengaluru seemed to be suffering from, the former India skipper will look to lead the side to yet another title when the upcoming season gets underway.
If previous encounters between the two top-heavy teams are to go by, we are in for a run feast with the quality batter from both sides looking to exploit the size of the ground in the South Indian city to their advantage.
The falt-track with short boundaries play right into the wheelhouse of the batters, with bowlers often return from the stadium kicking themselves as even mishit strokes clear the ropes at times at the Chinnaswamy.
The Ground
The opener, a prestige reserved for the champions of the previous edition of the tournament, will be held at the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium, a ground known to be a batter’s paradise with short boundaries and the ball coming on to the bat very well on most occasions, and bookies would favour the curtain-raiser to witness total north of the 200-run mark.
Weather forecast
Forecasts predict the skies to be clear on Saturday with the hotter-than-usual summers in the Karnataka Capital City set to be highly humid. The day time temperatures range between 32 to 34 degree Celsius, dipping to around the 18 to 20 degree Celsius mark once the sun goes down. No showers or drizzle has been predicted and we could have a record-breaking game on our hands to welcome the 2026 edition of the money-rich T20 franchise league.
