Last week, several media reports suggested that Ranveer Singh has stepped away from Farhan Akhtar’s highly anticipated film Don 3. However, there has been no official confirmation about this from the actor
or the production team. Meanwhile, a recent Filmfare report claims that the makers have been searching for the perfect star to lead Don 3, with Hrithik Roshan emerging as a strong contender. The report states that the makers are keen on exploring the possibility of the War 2 actor becoming the new face of the iconic franchise. However, discussions are still at a very early stage, and no final decision has been made yet.
Hrithik Roshan To Star In Don 3 After Ranveer Singh’s Exit?
A source told Filmfare, “Following Ranveer’s exit, Hrithik has emerged as a strong contender for the role. While discussions are still at a very early stage, it will be interesting to see whether Hrithik ultimately comes on board.” Interestingly, Hrithik also had a cameo in Don 2 when Shah Rukh Khan’s character disguised himself as Hrithik’s character in an important scene from the movie.
As per the Filmfare report, the makers are mindful that the chosen actor for Don 3 must be well-established with a strong portfolio, as whoever leads the third instalment will be stepping into the iconic shoes of Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, both of whom have previously portrayed Don.
When Farhan Akhtar Recalled Hrithik Roshan Was The First Choice For Don
Last year, in a conversation with Raj Shamani, Farhan Akhtar recalled that he first committed to offering Don (2006) to Hrithik Roshan, but decided to cast Shah Rukh Khan instead. “Hrithik and I did Lakshya, and we had an incredible, wonderful time working together. So I reached out to Hrithik and said, ‘I’m thinking I’m going to remake Don.’ He said, ‘Sounds amazing, dude!’ I said, ‘Let me write it and I’ll bring it to you.’ So he said, ‘Cool.’” However, he said that Shah Rukh Khan was the face that popped into his head when he was writing the film.
“But I’d already given my word to Hrithik. So I called up Hrithik and told him, ‘I’m writing the film I spoke to you about. But the more I’m writing, I’m feeling I should reach out to Shah Rukh for this film. I’ll never forget, he said, ‘Farhan, you’ve to make your film, and in the best way possible. If you think he’s the guy, please go ahead and call him. Don’t worry about me.’ That is a very gracious thing,” Farhan said.
Ranveer Singh’s Exit From Don 3
After reports came in that Ranveer Singh has quit Farhan Akhtar’s much-anticipated action thriller Don 3, rumours spread that the actor took this step after the success of Dhurandhar. However, a report in India Today claimed that his exit was a result of differences with the makers over demands. There has been no official confirmation regarding this yet.
