Tired of using AI to arrange furniture in your house? Pinterest is the place to be. But what happens when you mount your television too damn high? Reddit has a solution. A hilarious corner tucked deep
into the forum is Reddit’s r/TVTooHigh. Boasting nearly 200K weekly visitors, the Subreddit is exactly what its name suggests. And no, the televisions here have consumed no questionable stuff. A Redditor recently posted photos of their prized VHS collection in a VHS-focused subreddit, proudly showing it off, until a keen-eyed stranger spotted something unusual in one of the pictures.
Yes, their TV was mounted too high. They were then directed to the r/TVTooHigh community, where they posted the before and after pics of their living room with the newly-adjusted TV and asked if they had done a decent job.
What Is A Subreddit?
Reddit’s Subreddits are niche communities dedicated to specific topics or interests. The community is managed by moderators, meaning each space has its own set of rules. Wish to understand a complex topic in a layperson-friendly explanation? Join r/bald if the “is it time” question pops up in your head. r/TVTooHigh
The silly-sounding yet useful Subreddit is the place to be whenever you are second-guessing whether the TV in your living room or bedroom is mounted at a correct height. Created in 2019, the description of r/TVTooHigh is as precise as it could be: “TVs that are too high”.
User u/Super-Olive-4750, by their own admission, were kept up for days after a stranger politely informed them about the ill-placed TV among the VHS library.
Sufficiently annoyed by the recommendation, u/Super-Olive-4750 took the matter into their hands.
“I posted the first photo in a VHS group and a stranger guided me to this community. At first I didn’t think it was that high, but after losing sleep I dropped it down. The second photo is where it sits now and I hate to admit it… but the Reddit stranger was right. Way better viewing experience,” the user wrote.
u/Super-Olive-4750 also asked the good people of the community if they were pleased with the new TV position.

What Do the Enthusiasts Think?
“You took it well. I told someone that before and he sent me a dm that he was going to murder me and bury me in his backyard,” wrote one.
Many felt that the OP’s TV was still too high.
“honestly still a bit too high but your set up is way too cool for me to care (sic),”
“Still a little high but I can’t help but find your whole set up pretty dope (sic).”
“You’re still a shelf too high.”
However, some felt there was a huge improvement in symmetry.

“So much better!! While many are saying it could go a shelf lower, this is a huge improvement and the symmetry of the 3 shelves above, 3 shelves below makes up for it enough that I’d probably position it this way too.”
The Classics
Not everybody with a TV mounted outrageously high wants to limit themselves to the confines of Reddit’s standards.

Then, there were some, who wish to see the world burn.
“Guys, just wanted your opinion on these ridiculous cables that hang from the TV. Should I do cable management? Or paint the wall black?” OP wrote, hopefully sarcastically.
