Globally popular K-pop group BTS has officially ended its nearly four-year hiatus. On Thursday, the singers released their fifth studio album ARIRANG, marking one of the most anticipated comebacks in music
history. The seven-member group consisting of RM, Jin, SUGA, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook returned after focusing on solo projects and completing their mandatory military service.
Leading the new album is the full-English title track ‘SWIM’ – which is a music video shot in Lisbon. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Tanu Muino, the video presents the members as voyagers navigating the vast ocean, symbolising resilience and perseverance following their long break from the music world.
The narrative unfolds aboard a ship, centring on a woman who appears lost and emotionally burdened. As the story progresses, the BTS members quietly guide and support her, embodying themes of healing and hope. The climax sees her breaking free from all her ties.
Soon after the music video was released, ARMYs from across the world took to their respective social media handles and praised the song. While one of the fans called it ‘Song of the year’, others expressed that BTS’ return has left them emotional.
Meanwhile, BTS members are also set to perform after four years at the Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul on March 21 and for the same, massive preparations are underway. As reported by The Guardian, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency will deploy approximately 6,500 officers on the day of the event, including more than 70 riot police units, to ensure crowd control and safety. In addition to this, the Seoul city government will also mobilise 3,400 personnel with 102 fire trucks and 803 firefighters stationed around the venue.
Authorities are also implementing a stadium-style security operation, with 31 entry gates equipped with walk-through metal detectors to screen attendees. Special forces units will also be positioned around the venue, while the area will be secured using vehicle barriers, including iron spike strips and police buses.
BTS’ comeback show will also be streamed LIVE in India on Netflix at 4:30 pm on Saturday, March 21.
