End-of-year gifts are usually pretty predictable. Some employees might consider themselves lucky to receive hoodies, diaries, or maybe even a mug. But this year, Microsoft decided to raise the bar. As
the company’s year-end celebrations kicked off, a video posted on Instagram revealed just how far the tech giant went to delight its employees.
The clip, shared by an employee named Anuja, opens with her walking out of the office holding a big, neatly packed gift box. Smiling at the camera, she says, “Microsoft’s end-of-year spirit this year is on another level.” At first glance, the box looks like any other corporate giveaway, but the real surprise was waiting inside.

As Anuja opens the box, she pulls out what appears to be a trolley bag. Before viewers can scroll away, she teases, “This might feel like a normal trolley bag, but wait until you see it properly.” Moments later, the details are revealed. The bag features a subtle engraving of Microsoft’s logo and name, giving it a premium, understated look.
Trolley Bag’s Unique Features
But it is not just about aesthetics. The trolley bag is designed with practicality in mind, as it comes with a dedicated laptop compartment at the front, which makes it perfect for work travel. Anuja also revealed that this was not a one-off gesture and added that the trolley bag was just one of many surprises planned for employees during the celebrations.
The video quickly struck a chord online. Instagram users were quick to drop comments, calling the gift “smart,” “useful,” and “thoughtful,” and even applauded Microsoft for choosing something employees would actually use instead of just keeping it as a freebie.
Not All Employees Received The Gift
Well, there was a twist too. Several users chimed in, saying they had not received the trolley bag. One comment read, “Other teams are not getting this. And we’re getting rants from our friends cause of your reel.” Another asked, “Huh, is it team-specific? Because I didn’t get any.”
And then came the dark humour. One user joked, “Once we got a similar trolley bag, after a few days, they announced layoffs.” Someone else said, “And we get peanuts at our firm.”
The video of the employee is proof that Microsoft’s end-of-year spirit truly did hit different this time.
