Elon Musk’s social media platform X was reportedly down on Wednesday morning, with thousands of users reporting issues with the site. Reports of issues began around 2:03 am, according to monitoring site Downdetector,
and quickly surged to more than 25,500 within hours.
While several users were able to continue using the platform without interruption, many reported difficulties in accessing the platform, including feeds not loading, errors appearing on the app, and trouble accessing core features.
On asking Grok if X is down, it responded saying, “As of right now (early April 1, 2026), some monitoring sites show a fresh small spike in reports starting about 27 minutes ago, with users on X itself complaining ‘X is down again’ or ‘was down’ in the last hour.”
However, X has not responded to the disruption and no official cause of the outage has been confirmed.
Meanwhile, the platform also experienced a brief outage on Tuesday afternoon. According to the outage tracking website Downdetector, the service disruption occurred at around 16:20 ET, with over 20,000–21,000 user reports.
In a similar incident on March 26, thousands of users reported issues with the platform. At that time, more than 15,000 users flagged problems, including difficulties logging in, accessing the app and loading timelines.
