As Kolkata is on full Durga Puja celebration mode, incessant rain and thunderstorms triggered massive waterlogging across several parts. As per the visuals shared by locals on social media, torrential
rains continue since night in the city.
Just after a few hours of downpour, several thoroughfares across north Kolkata and adjoining suburban areas were waterlogged. As per the local forecast for Kolkata, moderate rain is very likely to occur on Tuesday.
Furthermore, the weather department has predicted rain till Sunday, which coincides with Mahalaya, the formal beginning of the festive season.

IMD Predicts Rain Till September 27
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday predicted heavy rain in several districts in the southern part of West Bengal till September 27.
The IMD said that heavy to very heavy rainfall (7-20 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over South 24 Parganas district and heavy rain (7-11 cm) will take place at one or two places over Purba and Paschim Medinipur, North 24 Parganas, Kolkata, Purba Bardhaman, Howrah and Hooghly districts of south Bengal till Tuesday morning.
Heavy rainfall is likely to occur in Purba and Paschim Medinipur, South 24 Parganas, Jhargram and Bankura districts thereafter till Wednesday, IMD predicted.
As per Alipore Meteorological Office, thunderstorms and rain occurred across districts including North 24-Parganas, South 24-Parganas, East and West Midnapore, Jhargram, Purulia, Birbhum, Murshidabad and Nadia.
