Aly Goni found himself in hot water after a video of him from Ganpati celebrations went viral, in which he was seen avoiding the chant of “Ganpati Bappa Morya.” Many critics of him also pulled out an old
video of Jasmin Bhasin wearing a burqa as she visited the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi. The old video has brought even more backlash for the actor, who has now clarified that they don’t force each other when it comes to any religious activity.
Speaking to FilmyGyan, Aly Goni shared: “Jasmin aur meri behen jab wahan gaye the toh unhe enter nahi karne diya, toh unhone paas se abaya kharida, vo pehna aur enter kiya. Ab usko ye bana diya hai ki main Jasmin ko Madina lekar gaya. Toh ab aap dekho, maine ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’ nahi bola toh log kya kya bolrahe hein. (When Jasmin and my sister went there, they weren’t allowed to enter, so they bought an abaya from nearby, wore it, and went inside. Now people have twisted it to say that I took Jasmin to Madina. So look at this—I didn’t say ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya,’ and people are saying all sorts of things.)”
Further continuing and talking about the recent controversy, Aly added, “Jasmin mere saath pichhle 4 saal se hai, aur agar vo feel good nahi karti toh main thodi usko bolunga roza rakh. Uski apni marzi, uska apna religion, vo jo kare yaar. Main use kyun force karunga aur vo mujhe kyun force karegi. (Jasmin has been with me for the past 4 years, and if she doesn’t feel good about it, why would I ever ask her to keep a Roza? It’s her own choice, her own religion, she can do whatever she wants. Why would I force her, and why would she force me?)”

Earlier, speaking about his wedding plans with Jasmin, Aly told Zoom, “There is no plan as of now. There is no delay; Bhagwan delay kar rahe hain. Kisi ki duaayein hain. Jab woh chahege tab woh hoga. (God is delaying the plans. It’s someone’s wishes. When God wants, then only it will happen.)”
Aly and Jasmin first met in 2018 while participating in Rohit Shetty’s reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi. Their time together in Argentina for the show’s shoot resulted in a deep relationship, which evolved into a love story when Aly joined the Bigg Boss 14 house as a wildcard entry, while Jasmin was already a contestant. During the stint, he secretly expressed his love to Jasmin, and they’ve been together ever since.
