I give up — there aren’t ANY superlatives left for LeBron James.
At 41, in his 23rd NBA season, he’s still stiff-arming Father Time. And on Thursday night, he delivered another reminder, powering the Los
Angeles Lakers to a 124-104 win over the Dallas Mavericks.
How? Well, he just became the oldest player ever to record a triple-double. Easy as that.

Oh, and he didn’t just show up. He went berserk on the floor — finishing with 28 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds, and the win.
The previous mark belonged to Karl Malone, who logged his final triple-double at 40 years and 127 days. That record stood for 22 years. It’s far gone now.
Bronny James was 105 days old when LeBron James recorded his first career triple-double on January 19th, 2005.

James also moved to fifth on the NBA’s all-time regular-season triple-doubles list with 123, trailing only Russell Westbrook (207), Nikola Jokic (184), Oscar Robertson (181) and Magic Johnson (138).
“I guess I’m more appreciative of moments like this in my career, understanding where I’m at, at the later stage of my journey,” James said. “You definitely take it in a little bit more.”
He hadn’t posted a triple-double since Feb. 1, 2025 — the same night Lakers history tilted with the blockbuster trade that brought Luka Doncic to Los Angeles.
Despite missing 18 games this season, James was still selected to his 22nd All-Star Game at Intuit Dome. However, league rules mean he won’t qualify for All-NBA honors this year.
He entered the night averaging 21.8 points, 6.9 assists and 5.7 rebounds, steady production for a Lakers team firmly in the Western Conference playoff hunt — even with limited time sharing the floor fully healthy alongside Doncic and Austin Reaves.
At 41, the numbers still scream elite. And it sure doesn’t seem like he’s going to stop.
