Punjab Kings (PBKS) pacer Arshdeep Singh has come under increasing scrutiny amid growing attention on his recent online activity. The left-arm fast bowler had earlier faced backlash after responding sharply
to a fan who suggested removing “Punjab” from the franchise’s name. While Arshdeep remains popular among supporters for his humorous and energetic social media presence, the latest controversy has put his conduct under the spotlight during a crucial phase of IPL 2026.
Ahead of Punjab Kings’ must-win clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the franchise addressed the situation publicly for the first time. PBKS Head of Sports Science Andrew Leipus attempted to downplay the controversy and insisted that Arshdeep’s attitude within the dressing room has remained unchanged.

“I don’t follow a lot of social media myself, so I know there’s been a bit of chatter behind the scenes… vlogging and whatnot. I’m not across that,” Leipus was quoted as saying to reporters at the pre-match press conference. “In terms of his behaviour, Arsh is pretty much a flat line. He’s not up or down. He gives his best out there.”
Arshdeep Playing Through Injury?
Leipus also revealed that Arshdeep has been managing physical issues during the tournament, which may have contributed to his inconsistent performances this season.
“We’ve been working together a little bit, and looking at his body, there may be restrictions that could be a reason for some of his performances being up and down. We think we’ve hit on a bit of a winner there,” he added.
Arshdeep, who played a key role in India’s recent ICC triumphs, has struggled to replicate his best form in IPL 2026. Questions have been raised about both his rhythm on the field and the distractions surrounding him away from cricket.
Despite the criticism, Leipus maintained that the pacer remains calm and committed within the team environment, adding that both Arshdeep and captain Shreyas Iyer have shown composure during a difficult phase for the franchise.
