Aloe vera is a plant that has long been touted as a miracle. And it just got a fresh pop culture push, thanks to Orry sharing a video of his skincare routine on New Year’s Eve. The social media influencer
was seen dabbing aloe vera gel under his eyes using a cotton ball after having a shower. He was also seen adding coconut oil to his hair and doing his particular type of back-combing. Orry then made himself a cup of ramen noodles before lighting a candle and getting into bed to watch Om Shanti Om starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.
When used correctly, aloe vera gel can be a soothing, budget-friendly addition to your under-eye and overall skincare routine this New Year.

Why aloe vera gel under the eyes helps?
Aloe vera is naturally hydrating and humectant-rich, which means it helps draw and hold moisture in the delicate under-eye area. This can make skin look smoother, softer, and a little more “awake”.
The gel is also cooling and can temporarily calm under-eye puffiness, especially if the gel is kept in the fridge and applied cold. This makes it a great post-late-night or post-screen-time ritual.
Aloe contains antioxidants and skin-calming compounds that may help support the skin barrier and reduce the appearance of tired, stressed skin over time when paired with good sleep and hydration.
How to use it safely under your eyes
- Choose pure aloe gel (or as close as possible): Look for minimal added fragrance, colour, or alcohol, as these can irritate the thin under-eye skin.
- Always patch-test first: Try a small amount near, but not too close to, the eye area for 24 hours to check for redness, burning, or itching. If anything stings, wash off and stop using.
- Apply a thin layer: Use clean fingers or a soft cotton tip/ball, and avoid getting product into your eyes. Let it sit for a few minutes, then gently pat in or wipe off any excess before layering an eye cream or moisturiser.
Make aloe vera gel a New Year skincare staple
Aloe vera gel can work as a light, hydrating layer under moisturiser, especially in humid climates or for oily/combination skin. It can help calm skin after cleansing, shaving, or gentle exfoliation.
On those days when you want to give your skin a break and are staying away from makeup, a routine of gentle cleanser + aloe gel + basic moisturiser and sunscreen can help simplify your regimen and give your skin a break from heavy actives.
You should also keep a tube of aloe vera gel in the fridge and use it after mild sun exposure, post-workout flush, or around the eyes when you feel puffy or tired.
Aloe is not a cure for dark circles, deep wrinkles, or chronic puffiness, which still requires good sleep, sun protection, and, when needed, professional advice. But as part of a realistic, calming, back-to-basics routine for 2026, a simple aloe gel can be a refreshing way to treat your under eyes and your skin to a little extra care.
