An Air India flight carrying Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi had to make a go-around shortly before landing at Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport on Tuesday.

flight AI-1717, operating from Delhi to Lucknow, was on its final approach when the pilot decided to abort the landing and perform a go-around.
The aircraft had come close to the runway before regaining altitude and making another approach to the airport. It subsequently landed safely in Lucknow on the second attempt.
Rahul Gandhi was among the passengers on board the flight at the time of the incident.
The flight reportedly departed from Delhi at around 2:20 pm and was scheduled to reach Lucknow at approximately 3:30 pm.
A go-around is a standard aviation procedure in which pilots discontinue a landing when conditions are not suitable for a safe touchdown. The aircraft climbs back to a safe altitude before making another approach or, if required, diverting to another airport.
There is no indication from the incident itself that the aircraft was in an emergency. The flight landed safely after the second approach.
