Homebound, the Neeraj Ghaywan directorial featuring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor in the leads, has hit the theatres today, September 26. The movie has been generating significant anticipation
ever since it was announced as India’s official entry for the 2026 Academy Awards.
Recently, several Bollywood personalities shared their honest reviews of the film and the latest one to join the bandwagon is actress Neha Dhupia.
Neha Dhupia Reviews Homebound
Taking to Instagram, Neha re-shared Dharma Productions’ CEO Apoorva Mehta’s post for Homebound on her stories and wrote, “It’s been a long time since we witnessed a film so fine. #Homebound uff is pure emotion, the performance, the storytelling, the magic. Apart from Neha, other celebrities like Vicky Kaushal, Arjun Kapoor, Maheep Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur have showered praises on the film.
Homebound’s Official Entry To Oscars 2026
Backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, the film has been selected as India’s official entry for the Best International Feature category at the 98th Academy Awards in 2026.
Homebound will now compete for a nomination at next year’s Academy Awards against applications from over 100 different countries.
So far, only three Indian films have garnered final nominations in this category: Mother India (1958), Salaam Bombay! (1989) and Lagaan (2002). However, none of them went on to win the title.
Homebound Storyline
The film follows the story of two childhood friends from a North Indian village, Chandan (a Dalit) and Shoaib (a Muslim), who aspire to join the police force to escape poverty and gain respect. Their journey, however, becomes intertwined with the challenges of caste and religious biases, the systemic obstacles faced by the marginalised, and the emotional fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic, as their friendship is tested by growing desperation.

Coming back to Neha, she was last seen as one of the gang leaders in MTV Roadies XX alongside Prince Narula, Elvish Yadav, Gautam Gulati and Rhea Chakraborty.
