India often trends online for crowded streets, chaotic traffic and culture shock stories. But sometimes, a simple travel video shifts the narrative. A UK-based content creator couple currently touring
India has gone viral for sharing their honest reaction to what they experienced in Mumbai — and it’s not what many expected.
In the now-circulating clip, the couple can be seen walking through different parts of Mumbai, exploring historic buildings, busy streets and sampling Indian food. What stood out, though, was their candid commentary about how they were treated.
“Me and Julia are actually really really surprised because we came here and we thought that you know you’d come out to some of the touristy areas and you get hassled. In a lot of Asian places you do, a lot of places around the world you get hassled in tourist places. But here no one has really hassled, everyone’s been quite nice,” the man said in the video.
His comment quickly caught viewers’ attention, especially because it addressed a common perception many tourists carry before visiting India.
He continued, “Kind of sent on like sometimes people make this staggering out about India but it’s true because it’s not like that. Actually, people are pretty decent. If you just say no, I’m not interested but thank you and they’re nice enough.”
Couple Impressed By Mumbai’s Architecture
As they walked around the city, the couple appeared genuinely impressed by Mumbai’s architecture and atmosphere. In one moment, while looking at a grand heritage structure, they exclaimed, “Look at this, this is a super beautiful building, super historic, isn’t it, wow. Wow, what is this building? It’s incredible, beautiful..”
Internet Praises Couple’s Balanced Take
The video has sparked conversations online, with many users appreciating the couple’s balanced and positive take. A comment read, “Atleast some of you are showing the actual india and its beauty instead of the token India-bashing we see online.” Another added, “Bro you are just in a city in India. India is a mini-subcontinent. 28 states with 28 languages, cultures, weather and race.”
Others pointed out how firsthand travel experiences can differ significantly from preconceived notions. One of the comments read, “India is a lovely country mate…need to hit the ground & experience it which u did.”
For many viewers, the couple’s reaction serves as a reminder that visiting a place and forming your own opinion can lead to unexpected and positive discoveries.
