Perfume Day 2026: Celebrated on February 17 as part of Anti-Valentine’s Week – a series of days that focus on self-expression and individuality – Perfume Day highlights fragrance as a symbol of personal
style rather than romance. In fact, the price of the world’s most expensive perfume is comparable to, and in some cases exceeds, the cost of a 1BHK apartment in several metro cities in India.
As Anti-Valentine’s Week observes Perfume Day, attention turns to a niche segment of the fragrance industry where exclusivity, rare materials and craftsmanship push prices into the crore range.
While most premium perfumes retail between Rs 5,000 and Rs 25,000, a handful of ultra-luxury editions are positioned as collector assets rather than everyday fragrances.

Shumukh (Approx Rs 10.8 Crore)
Launched in Dubai by Nabeel Perfumes, Shumukh is widely cited as one of the most expensive perfumes globally. Valued at approximately USD 1.29 million (around ₹10.8 crore), it features a three-litre bottle decorated with over 3,500 diamonds, pearls, gold and silver.

The fragrance blend includes agarwood (oud), sandalwood, musk, Turkish rose and amber. However, industry observers note that a significant portion of its valuation is attributed to the handcrafted jewel-encrusted bottle.
DKNY Golden Delicious Million Dollar Fragrance Bottle (Approx Rs 8.3 Crore)
Unveiled in 2011, this limited-edition version of DKNY’s Golden Delicious perfume carried a reported valuation of USD 1 million (approximately ₹8.3 crore).
The apple-shaped bottle was decorated with nearly 3,000 precious stones sourced globally. The fragrance inside remained consistent with the brand’s commercial formula, while the gemstone craftsmanship drove its valuation.
Clive Christian No. 1 Imperial Majesty – (Approx Rs 1.8 Crore)
Only ten bottles of this edition were produced. Each Baccarat crystal flacon featured a five-carat diamond and an 18-carat gold collar.
Originally reported at USD 215,000 per bottle, the valuation converts to approximately ₹1.8 crore, depending on exchange rates.
Baccarat Les Larmes Sacrées de Thebes – (Approx Rs 56 Lakh)
Created in the 1990s, this limited-edition perfume was presented in a pyramid-shaped crystal bottle. Its blend of frankincense and myrrh drew inspiration from ancient ceremonial traditions.
Limited production numbers and handcrafted crystal design contributed to its premium pricing.
Why Do These Perfumes Cost Crores?
- High-Value Bottles: Diamonds, gold, platinum and bespoke crystal work often make the packaging more valuable than the perfume itself.
- Rare Ingredients: Oud, natural ambergris and high-grade rose oil are among the most expensive raw materials used in perfumery.
- Limited Production: Some editions are produced in extremely small quantities, enhancing exclusivity and resale value.
- Luxury Positioning: These perfumes are marketed as collectible luxury artefacts, appealing to high-net-worth buyers rather than mainstream consumers.
Perfume As A Luxury Asset
On Perfume Day 2026, these high-value creations highlight how fragrance can move beyond personal care into the realm of collectible luxury. While India’s premium fragrance market continues to grow, crore-priced editions remain symbolic of global ultra-luxury consumption trends.
